Yesterday was the day that Big Al had to take his piggies in to get weighed and tagged for the Fair in August.
It was ...... challenging to get them loaded into the horse trailer! One piggie was really easy and sort of sauntered in.. the other... well... lets say it took bribery with food, poking with tools, slapping, blocking and lots of cursing and tempers rising! But, we got it in!
We sat in line at the fairgrounds from about 3:30pm to about 5pm, and finally unloaded a few minutes after that. Some of the teens helping were gossiping about the sizes of some of the pigs coming in... they took a look at ours and were pretty surprised! After seeing alot of the other pigs there - I too, was surprised at #1 - the size of the pigs and #2 - how much nicer our pigs are put together than most! Not that I am any pig expert - but ours look pretty darn good - as far as pigs go!
Big Al had a hard time watching them "tag" (aka ear piercing) both of the ears on each pig... LOTS and LOTS of loud squealing! He had his ears covered most the time!
After the tagging, the pigs were pushing thru the chute on to the scale.....
Pig #522 weighed in at a whoomping 128 pounds! Pig #523 weighed in at 120 pounds!
Now Big Al needs to get these piggie girls up to over 260 pounds before Fair!
